Much Needed Fixes


Considering how long it's been since the last update, it feels amazing to push some much-needed improvements to gameplay. Scaling has given me an issue ever since I began making SpaceMail, as changing the aspect ratio broke fundemental game mechanics. In order to fix this aspect ratio of the game window cannot be changed while resizing the window. I've also removed the half-baked unlocks for the time being, in order to give myself a better chance at restructuring the whole system. I will definitely be moving to using GDNative in hopes that a full programming language will speed up my development experience and pace.


As I take a few weeks to stumble around with changing to GDNative, as well as starting a CI/CD pipeline. I'll be sure to post frequent technical updates about my progress on beebox.io and occasionally here on this devlog. Thanks for reading!

Changelog:

  • resizing the game window will no longer change the aspect ratio of the playable areas of the game
  • unlock system removed to make way for a more maintainable and scalable one
